A beautiful medley of rice and four types of dal makes for an amazing Char Dal Ni Khichdi. This fool proof recipe gets ready within minutes is super healthy and tastes absolutely homely with some achar and papad on the side. CHAR DAL NI KHICHDI Ingredients 1½ tbsps split field beans (vaal ki dal) soaked 1½ tbsps split pigeon pea (tuvar dal / arhar dal) soaked 1½ tbsps split red lentils (masoor dal) soaked 3 tbsps split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal) soaked ¾ cup basmati rice soaked 3 tbsps desi ghee 1 inch cinnamon stick 1 black cardamom 3-4 cloves 2 medium onions sliced ¼ bunch fresh coriander leaves 10-15 fresh mint leaves 1 inch ginger ½ cup buttermilk Sea salt to taste ¼ tsp turmeric powder Method 1. Heat desi ghee in a pressure cooker add cinnamon black cardamom cloves and onions and saute. 2. Grind coriander leaves mint leaves ginger and buttermilk till smooth. 3. Add field beans pigeon pea split lentils and green gram to the cooker and mix. Add rice and mix. 4. Add sea salt turmeric powder and spiced buttermilk and mix. Add 3½ cups water and mix. 5. When the mixture comes to a boil cover the cooker and cook under pressure till 3-4 whistles are given out. 6. Serve hot.
