HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH
Ingredients
8 white bread slices
12 ham slices
100 grams Emmental cheese
Herbed butter as required
4-5 fresh thyme sprigs
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
Dijon mustard for spreading
Tomato ketchup for serving
Method
1. Heat herbed butter in a non-stick pan.
2. Apply some herbed butter on one side of bread slice and place on the hot pan with plain side downwards.
3. Place one ham slice, sprinkle some crushed peppercorns, grate some Emmental cheese, sprinkle thyme leaves and place another ham slice. Sprinkle some crushed peppercorns, again grate some Emmental cheese, sprinkle some thyme leaves and place another ham slice.
4. Spread some Dijon mustard on another bread slice, place over the prepared bread slice with mustard side down, cover the pan and cook till golden brown from downside side and cheese melts.
5. Apply some herbed butter on top of the sandwich, flip, cover and cook till golden brown from downside.
6. Cut into triangles and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
