KONKANI VARAN
Ingredients
1 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), pressure cooked with turmeric powder for 5-8 minutes
¼ teaspoon asafoetida
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt to taste
Method
1. Take cooked Bengal gram in a non-stick pan. Add asafoetida,
cumin seeds, salt and some water and mix well. Cover and bring
to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
2. Adjust water, mix well, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
3. Serve hot with steamed rice topped with a dollop of ghee.
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
