These crispy Dal Vadas are irresistible and makes for a perfect chai-time snack.
DAL VADA
Ingredients
1 cup Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked for 8-10 hours
1 medium onion
1 inch ginger piece
12-15 curry leaves
2 green chillies
3 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves
Oil for deep frying
Coconut chutney to serve
Method
1. Finely chop onion and ginger and set them aside.
2. Take a blender jar add Bengal gram curry leaves and green chillies and blend to a coarse paste. Scrape the sides of the blender jar in between.
3. Transfer the mixture into a bowl add the chopped onion chopped ginger and salt 3 tbsps chopped coriander and mix well.
4. Dampen your palms with water and flatten them slightly between your palms and set aside.
5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
6. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
