Chocolate coconut modaks are a contemporary twist on the traditional modak a sweet offering made for Lord Ganesha during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. A delightful fusion of flavors and textures that blend the allure of chocolate with the tropical charm of coconut.
CHOCOLATE COCONUT MODAK
Ingredients
2 cups Basmati rice flour
A pinch of salt
2 tbsps ghee + as required
1½ cups scraped fresh coconut
2-3 tbsps Nutralite Choco Spread Crunchy
½ tsp green cardamom powder
A pinch of nutmeg powder
Method
1. Heat a nonstick pan. Add water salt ghee and allow to boil.
2. For the stuffing take coconut in a bowl. Add Nutralite Choco Spread Crunchy and mix well. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
3. Add Basmati rice flour to the boiling water and mix well. Switch off the heat cover and set aside for 5 minutes.
4. Transfer the mixture in a parat add little ghee and knead till the dough is completely smooth and pliable. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside.
5. Heat sufficient water in a steamer.
6. Add green cardamom powder and nutmeg powder to the stuffing and mix well.
7. Apply some ghee on your palms divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into balls.
8. Flatten each ball and roll into semi thick disks. Alternately you can pat the dough with hands to form disks.
9. Fill with a portion of the stuffing pleat the edges and gather them together to form a bundle. Pinch to seal the edges at the top. Alternately you can use mould for this process.
10. Place the prepared modaks on a steamer basket lined with banana leaf and steam for 10-12 minutes.
11. Drizzle ghee and serve hot.
